IL TIMO - THYME Botanical: Thymus Volgaris Family: N.O. Labiatae From history we learn that the aroma and taste of the plant captured the attention of poets, gardeners, cooks and even soldiers. In ancient Greece thyme incense were lightened in temples, roman soldiers bathed in thyme water as virtue to receive courage and bravery. William Shakespeare in his “mid night summer dream” described the plant. Parts Used- leaves in tea and as spice in food.
IL MELOGRANO - POMEGRANATE Botanical: Punica Granatum Family: Punicaceae The Pomegranate is a fruit-bearing deciduous shrub or small tree growing to 5–8 m tall. The pomegranate is believed to have originated in eastern Iran and southern Afghanistan region, but its true native range is not accurately known because of millennia of extensive cultivation. Pomegranate juice is a popular drink in the Middle East, and is also used in Iranian and Indian cuisine; it began to be widely marketed in the US in 2004. Pomegranate concentrate is used in Syrian cuisine.
FUCSIA - FUCHSIA Botanical: Fuchsia Family: Onagraceae Fuchsia is a genus of flowering plants, mostly shrubs, which were identified by Charles Plumier in the late 17th century, and named by Linnaeus in 1753 after the German botanist Leonhart Fuchs (1501-1566). The English vernacular name Fuchsia is the same as the scientific name. The great majority are native to South America, but with a few occurring north through Central America to Mexico, and also several on New Zealand and Tahiti. One species, Fuchsia magellanica, extends as far as the southern tip of South America on Tierra del Fuego in the cool temperate zone, but the majority are tropical or subtropical.
